It was lovely to see the children smiling as Father Christmas gave each child a present and knew each child by name.
Due to donations from various people we were able to buy DVD's and wooden play sets to donate to the children's wards of Northampton General Hospital for Christmas and also a hospital set to donate to Poppy's Place to support their counselling service. (http://www.poppysplace.org.uk/)
We were pleased to share the cost with Chelsea's Angels (http://www.chelseasangels.co.uk/) to provide the opportunity for a mum and her daughter, whose sibling has had cancer, to spend quality time together by arranging a trip to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Footsteps Tours.
On Christmas Eve we received an unexpected, but very appreciated, email from Northampton School for Boys informing us that Alfe's Cause had been chosen as one of the groups who be receiving a donation from their charity week.
We are eagerly waiting for our wristbands and the donation of 10,000 information cards from the amazing Be Child Cancer Aware charity. (http://www.bechildcanceraware.
org/) to arrive. We will then be launching the start of our Childhood Cancer Awareness signs and symptoms within Northamptonshire and are currently contacting schools to promote this.
Our next planned get together for families is on Saturday 25th January when, at the children's request, we will be going bowling.
Here's an updated video of what we did in 2013 and what are plans are for 2014:
